Description
The intention for this retreat style workshop is to provide an opportunity to practice all aspects of working in the sand. Participants will increase their capacity to be present, gain confidence in gently guiding the process, and deepen their understanding of the nuances of sand therapy.
This 1 day sand practice intensive draws on the expertise of each participant to refine and integrate the basic knowledge and skills necessary for sandtray clinical practice. Through practice sessions, reflection, inquiry, and discussion participants will engage the sandtray process through multiple layers of learning. Participants will have opportunities to demonstrate their clinical skills and provide effective feedback to colleagues for the purpose of enriching everyone’s understanding of this work. The deepening journey is as much about skill development as exploring one’s own work in the tray.
In addition to sand specific practices, we will play with metaphor, mindfulness, meditation, movement, poetry, and other creative explorations. As part of our care of the self, we will share a provided vegetarian lunch together.
This workshop may be repeated as often as desired, it is offered in both 1 and 2 day formats throughout the year. Core objectives are achieved through a variety of means, and no two workshops will be exactly the same, even if we follow the exact same agenda (which is unlikely).
