Cultivate professional and personal growth.

Clinical supervision is a specialized role requiring a distinct set of skills, ethical awareness, and reflective capacity. Yet many clinicians find themselves providing supervision with limited formal preparation.

This small group training retreat is designed to support clinicians as they step into the role of supervisor with greater clarity, intention, and competence.

Over the course of the weekend, we will explore the complex nature of supervision including the myriad roles and responsibilities of a clinical supervisor; distinctions and potential conflicts in administrative aspects rather than clinical elements of supervision; developmental models of supervision; and strategies for mitigating the inherent risks of evaluative and gatekeeping work, as well as issues of vicarious liability.

Participants will engage in thoughtful discussion, experiential exercises, and creative processes to deepen their understanding of supervision as both a structure and a relationship. Particular attention will be given to the development of one’s identity as a supervisor, including the motivation to move into this role.

This training is designed to provide 24 hours of clinical supervision training applicable to anyone wanting to strengthen their awareness and skill in the professional role.

For those seeking specific play therapy supervision requirements, an additional 6 hours of focused content are available as an additional unit in order to provide the full 30-hour supervision training requirement for the Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S) credential.

This is a weekend of reflection, discovery, and nurture.

We begin with an opening dessert session on Thursday evening and officially end on Sunday afternoon. Everyone is welcome to stay through checkout on Monday morning.

For those adding the play therapy component we will continue into Sunday evening. There will also be some pre-training readings, written reflections and a post experience integration paper.

Care is taken to create a balance between structure and spaciousness throughout the retreat.

Participants will be offered guided prompts and unstructured time for reflection, allowing for integration of both personal and professional insights.

While the days are full, the schedule is intentionally designed with shorter, focused sessions and space for rest and connection. Participants often leave feeling both deeply nourished and professionally renewed.

Immerse yourself in nature.

McCormick’s Creek State Park was Indiana’s very first state park. Over 10 miles of well-marked hiking trails lead past unique features like Wolf Cave, Twin Bridges, and the Falls on McCormick’s Creek (above).

Enjoy listening to water on the rocks, bird watching, hiking and relaxing in the beauty of southern Indiana. While the Wifi reception may be spotty in the cabins, there is an Inn with reliable service.

Make space for deep learning.

Cabins in the WOods

Nestle into your own private room in the beautiful 2-story Centennial and Sunset Cabins (with ADA accessible first floors). Bedding and towels provided. Shared bathrooms (1 ADA compliant on ground floor), living room, dining room, enclosed 4-season porch, open front porch, rocking chairs and picnic table, a full kitchen. While the cabins are not direct neighbors, they are in the same area and the more primitive cabins between them will be empty, as rentals will have ended for the season. We have the place to ourselves. A state park in winter is a special kind of peaceful.
