Description
This 3 day workshop provides an introduction to sandtray therapy theory and practice with children and adults.
A portion of the first day is learning how to set up and maintain spaces for this work, and adapt it for one’s personal working environment and population. Participants will evaluate various spaces based on their nervous system reactions and practical considerations.
There will be clinical demonstrations of work with children and adults, with many experiential activities to secure personal learning. We will explore various elements of the sandtray process in the context of clinical practice, paying particular attention to the self of the therapist, clinical conceptualization, and the clinical relationship.
This training interweaves didactic material, group discussion, demonstrations, and experiential exercises to explore sand, symbol and self. Participants will have ample opportunity to practice and refine basic skills and explore questions in a small-group setting. Even seasoned sandtray clinicians have found that this foundation level provides new insights for their work.
